Grilled Lobster Tail

Grilled lobster tail is easy to make with this recipe and step by step instructions below. Your friends and family will be amazed that you were able to know how to cook lobster so well!

To start off, you will need the following ingredients:
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup melted butter
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
4 Lobster Tails

Prepare the Lobster: Using fresh lobster is best. If you are using frozen lobster, make sure that it is 100% completely thawed first. You may boil a frozen lobster on a stove first if it is frozen and you just want that “grilled” taste. It won’t be as good as fresh lobster, but it will certainly still be pretty tasty! You will want to make sure that you have cut the shell on the underside and removed the cartilage so the meat is exposed. Then you will next want to poke skewers through the tail. (Note: If using wooden skewers, make sure they have soaked in water for at least 1 hour before grilling). By putting skewers through them it will help them retain their shape on the grill.

Prepare the Marinade Butter Sauce: The lobster tail marinade is easy to make – simply whisk and mix all ingredients together. You will then want to brush the marinade on the bottom sides of the lobster before and during grilling. You can discard any extra or use it for coating other grilled seafood such as shrimp and scallops.

Prepare Your Grill
: Knowing how hot to make the grill temperature and how long to grill a lobster is tricky for many people. You will want to make your grill a medium high heat (if charcoal, make sure the coals are good and hot and red but with no flames). You will also want to lightly oil the grate of the grill to help prevent sticking of the lobster tails.

Grilling the Lobster: Cooking the meat is relatively simply. After brushing on the marinade from the recipe above you will want to place the tails on the grate with the meat side facing down. This part will take about 3-5 minutes depending on the heat of the fire. Have a water bottle handy, since the melted butter/oil is likely to cause flames to start shooting up. You can also use tongs to move the lobster if flames become an issue. You’ll then want to flip the lobster again, brushing on more butter sauce marinade as needed. Adding more sauce will help keep it from drying out. If need be, flip the tail over once more and let grill another 3-5 minutes or until the lobster is firm and will have a white color to it. In general, they only take between 8-12 minutes to grill. Smaller tails will cook considerably faster than larger ones!
